Moments in time

London was a place that changed my life forever. I have been blessed to experienced things that people only dream of doing. I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to experience and immerse myself into another country for six weeks. Even though at times i as obsessed with taking photos it was only because i wanted to make sure i had enough great pictures to share with my family because for some me going on this trip means they have scene it too!  The city of London is beautiful and so historic that pictures do not do it any justice.

I have been told that Pictures say a thousand words though and that is why i have chose to add some of my favorite tourist/monumental pictures from my trip here.

Here are some of my favorite photos from London/Paris with the things people wanted to see anyway.

Enjoyable experiences..MUSICALS TO BE EXACT

Musicals have quickly become a fun past time of my life. I had been to a few musicals before arriving in London, However after arriving musicals became a part of the trip. I attended three musical and i was impressed by each and every one of them for various reasons. I have uncovered something about myself from going to London and that is that I Love musicals. Musicals about childhood movies or books are amazing to me because they help you relive your childhood while experiencing it in a different and exciting way. Musicals are so exciting and i cant wait to see more. One of the first things i did when i got home was looked up some of the musicals that will be playing in Detroit or that i just found interesting. I am so proud that i found something that i really enjoy doing and can continue to do it outside of London as well.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory was the best musical out of all of them in my opinion. This show had sets that were amazing. If you have ever seen the movie then you know how elaborate the different rooms in the factory were and the musical was just like that. The show encompasses modernization as well as the original concepts of the story as well. The casts of the show were into character very well and they all had distinct personalities and performed well. The show captivated me and I was glued to it the entire time because of how exciting it was from the characters, sets, costumes, and effects. I would suggest everyone to see this musical as soon as possible because they will not regret it.

The greatest moments are those unplanned.

Sometimes the best times in your life are the ones that are spontaneous. The most fun is always the fun that is not planned. While in London I partook in loads of things that were not planned but ended up being amazing and unforgettable. In a city like London the possibilities are endless. I've come to learn that there is always something to do in London all you have to do is look around.  Events such as music festivals, surprise birthday dinners, riding the tube alone, and many more are things that I cherish from my trip and that I will never forget experiencing.

These are some photos from some of the events that I ended up going to spur of the moment and ended up having some of the best times I had in London. Never be afraid to live out loud and do things without a plan! They just may be some of the greatest times of your life.

Fourth of July ! Leicester square last minute decision.

Surprise Birthday Dinner!

Random purchase of Music festival tickets and ended up in front row!

That one time you decided to go out sightseeing and ended up on the tube alone!

Adventuring through London and found Spartys uncle!

London(UK) VS Home (USA)

Some of the differences between America and London that really stood out to me because these are things that I actually experienced at some point or came close to! J London is a extravagant place but there is an will never be no place like HOME.

The bathroom or restroom is not recognized the loo or the toilet is more appropriate.

There is no such thing as personal space on the tube, sidewalk, bus, or anywhere else for that matter.

Small is the new big when it comes to cramped elevators, narrow stairwells that you would assume were dangerous to walk on, showers that double as smoke chambers or close knit saunas, portion sizes at restaurants, the streets that don’t seem the slightest big enough for the cars, the houses, Shots, and remotely Everything …lol just kidding but you get my point!

Stand on the left of the escalators or you will be run over by impatient Londoners n the right!

Elevators don’t exist they are called LIFTS and fit about 50-60 people literally.

Color is spelled Colour and Microsoft word even knows it lol

To go means take away and if you don’t specify you’ll get your meal to stay!

Requesting ice water is like asking for a steak at McDonalds.

Football is not soccer.. Its just a game played with the feet that looks a lot like freaking Soccer to me!!

Having a server come and check on you and do ridiculous things such as take your order, refill your drink, get your food correct, and bring the bill on time is clearly rocket science!

RANCH is NOT ranch. Dont try it!!!!!

These are not even close to all the differences between the United States and the United Kingdom. Just a few that really grinds my gears. ;)

Are you a Londoner? Or in the making of becoming one?

Upon first arriving in London i was so out of the loop. As the weeks went on and my courage and adaptability kicked in i began to feel like one of the London gang. These are just a few pictures, sayings and other cool things from around the net  that made me think that hmmmm i may be becoming a Londoner. Do you feel the same?

1. You no longer look up
Nowadays, I don’t have time to stroll around looking at pretty buildings.
2. Waiting more than three minutes for a tube is absolutely preposterous
3. Everyone walks too damn slow
4. The Underground is a battleground
Dear foolish day-trippers who stand in all the exits to study the maps: don’t you know you’re going to end up deaf from our crescendo of passive-aggressive tutting as we walk past? Seriously, it’ll be off the Richter scale in a minute if you don’t move
5. Everything outside of Zone 3 is considered to be another country. Zone 3 itself is pushing it.
6. Purple hair and ballet tutus are acceptable attire
7. You refuse to speak or make eye contact with anyone on public transport. This includes delaying the conversation with your friend sitting next to you until you’ve both exited the train.

8. Your idea of personal space is not having a stranger standing on your toes or shoving their arm pit in your face on the tube journey home

9.If you don’t have anything to hold onto on the tube, bend your knees a little to avoid falling over. It took me a good six months, and a lot of wobbling, to discover this simple fact.

10.Enter through the front door of the bus and exit through the middle door. Attempts to use the wrong door will be frowned upon.

11. Hookers and the homeless are invisible.

12. You step over people who collapse on the Tube.

13. You consider eye contact an act of overt aggression.

14. You're suspicious of strangers who are actually nice to you.

15. £50 worth of groceries fit in one plastic bag.

These are the sites i got all of these coolies from.

Introduction! LONDON HERE I COME!

Preparing to leave my comfort zone for six weeks and I am having mixed emotions . I am feeling happy, excited, scared, panicky, and nervous. I want this trip to be one that I will always remember and cherish forever. I am going to make this a memorable experience to share with my family.  I'm excited to be going to another country on a whole different continent! I am also nervous because I have a hard time with new things and I am trying to embrace my culture shock. I have never been away from my family for this long and the time difference is going to suck but i know that they will be praying for me and missing me just as much as i miss them. Im going to miss some birthdays and family outings but ill be sure to come back with countless stories and great laughs for our upcoming family events. I am hoping that London will help me to brighten my horizons and help me become a more cultured individual. I have a lot of growing up and becoming more accepting of different cultures and variation and I am really looking forward to London helping me overcome these obstacles. Although I will miss my family, friends, and comfortability I will embrace this trip and make it amazing Now its time to think about everything i have to see, purchase, and enjoy!!!! NO MORE DAYS UNTIL LONDON!!!

Letters from London Conclusion

Letter to myself,

Being here I have gained so many memories, unforgettable excursions with people I will never forget! I have seen historic and amazing sights that  I cant even be able to describe accurately. I've transformed from a regular tourist into kind of a tube and bus user guru. As the time is dwindling down I am ancy to get home but I'm sad I won't be waking up to The sun rising at 4AM. This is a time in my life that I'll never forget from celebrating my 22nd birthday here, sneaking on the subway in Paris, dancing through Leicester square, and countless events that will only be recounted by few. London you've been great to me until we meet again...always remember to mind the gap!

Love, Breanne Card

When asked to tell contribute and tell the class my definition of our London and our trip I couldn’t have come u with anything better than

“London has been making incomparable memories standing on an hourglass on its side”.
